A restoration project of a building in the historic centre of Como, characterised by a typical layout of a Trading house from the Middle Ages, with a frontage of reduced dimensions, and development in depth around the rest of the plot.
The project does not alter the typology of the two small constructions  which are separated by a surrounded courtyard.
The more distant internal part  is set aside to contain the stairs and lift, connected by wood and steel balconies to the principal body of the building giving onto the road, which is intended to form independent living accommodation.
On the ground floor the commercial function aspect is retained.
The project examines the relationship between conservation and new projects, not as a contrast or mimicry, but as an attempt to integrate two distinctly recognisable languages, by means of the reworking of traditional details or patterns in a contemporary motif.
